Subject:Feeling a little odd.
Time:12:48 am
Life is not as fun this week as it was last week.

Work seems to be going well (I appear to have accidentally wangled my way into doing quite important responsibility-heavy work), Im finally getting a bike, its sunny (the sun always makes me happy), I pubbed-quizzed this eve (and it would appear can easily convince 10 people to join me from all over town, truely the people they love me!) and tomorrow Im going to see a Sweedish electropop band called Bodies Without Organs, with a sexy man. Surely this is Nick's definition of the perfect week?!

And yet I mostly feel a bit guilty about the weekend, a bit contemptous towards the housemates, bizarrely and suddenly unsure about 'the relationship'... I also am struggling a bit with the unwell friend - feeling uncomfortable or embarrased around them and then feeling guilty for feeling that. And my eyes are still being shit.

I think to address that last one I may try to make it through the week with no PC/TV watching outside of work, taking long nights of sleep and doing some way, way over-active blood sugar controlling.

Subject:Easter update
Time:12:19 pm
Hmm, it appears that thingbox has been taking up most of my online-time-wasting recently and lj has been neglected. Since most people I know and want to catch up with arent 27 year old beardy queers from london, I have realised that this isn't particularly sensible so, hello again livejournal!

So basically the last 3 to four weeks have flown by. I didn't see either Calle or Diana at all, havent been out clubbing, haven't really bought anything...

But, I've been having a lot of fun :D Wyvils (soon to be The Vauxhall Griffin) has become my local pub - despite being geographically at the opposite corner of the city to where I live! - and we are regularly pub quizzing there on Tuesday nights. My Tuesdays now consist of heading straight there from work, getting a table to myself and enjoying a jacket potato with cup of tea and the paper for an hour until the rest of the team arrive; mixed with coy exchanges with the barman, who I chat only minimally to in real life despite having seen, lets just say, more of him than the rest of the pub combined albeit in a more virtual sense(!). Other regulars include the quizmaster, peeping peter, irish girl, that damn couple at the bar and a whole host of "Im sure I know that man from the internet only he is wearing more clothes" extras. I love that bar. Sadly we did not win the £300 multi-rollover jackpot two weeks ago (question: if you multiplied the number of points by which Katrina and the Waves won eurovision with the number of casualties from Hurricane Katrina, what would you get) nor last weeks final attempt to dispose of the cash with guess the nuts in the jar! But we did win the He-Mman and She-Ra christmas special on DVD! And with Peter (irish not peeping, sadly) having abandoned us for Dorset, Emma is being a complete legend by coming up to london specifically to do the quiz.

The other bit of news is my man: I met a nice man! He's hot, funny, work's around the corner from my work, is originally from east anglia, is an ex student (and societies/sports officer) and used to live in Finsburry Park (and so has already taken me to see such wonders as T-Bird, an american style bar complete with space invaders machines and Dolly Parton pinball). It's almost too convenient! We seem to have instantly clicked: humour, sex, love of trashy swedish pop... this is a man who invites me out to a club night that involves arts and crafts making for adults (i.e. beer + throwing paint around) and will be takeing me to a swedish pop gig next week.

So yup, things arent looking to shabby. And I just downloaded "I'll See You Around" by Silversun... Retro!

Long time no update.
In brief, life is great but I may have been a little bit bad :o

And this? This is just brilliant. I think part of my brain actually imploded watching it:

Subject:Best Saturday, evah!
Time:11:16 pm
Update time!

The plan for Friday night was to convince someone (anyone!) to join me for Alabama 3s indy/rock/metal/acid-house club night in Brixton... but my failure to do so resulted in myself and Peter (oirish flatmate) drinking in a bar and having an overblown 'the meaning of life' debate. it was great. we seem to get into these semi-arguement but then we get tipsy and its all great moments all the time!

And then had the greatest saturday ever!
Em and Jax came down to visit, their plan being to drag me to the kylie exhibition and then make me watch hours of music television with tea (did you see how I made that sound like a chore when really it would have been awesome :p).

The reality however was that we met in a very cool cafe just off Ocford Circus, Kirsty I her boyfriend and their mate Ed turned up, and then before we knew it we'd been there drinking tea for nearly 5 hours! We discussed Menopause the Musical, the false messiah of tea, the amazing wish-granting toilet, the theory of lips and more; all while lounging on big leather sofas in a brilliantly empty living room-meets The Hive basement.

We then went home... to discover Olga was throwing a birthday party!
With huge amounts of free alcohol.
And hot spanish men

We got (far far too much) takeaway and watched The Hits before joining the party, consuming other people's alcohol for a few hours and then, at about half 11 (surely far too late...) we jumped on the tube and went to vauxhall!

Where we went to wyvils - aka the best pu EVAH - for some more alcohol and brilliantly random music. But then it turned out that a horde of just-turned-18 "oh my god our friend has just got into Harvard and we can drink" American kids were staying over the road and had taken over the pub!

You might expect these kids to be twats, but no! They knew ace of base, the scissor sisters, the withnail and I drinking game and sung along to Say No More Mon Amore! We danced like twats to such classics as Doin' the Do, Go Your Own Way and Your Disco Needs You while teaching them more brittish "culture" till the hot dirty-gay-goth-boy barman (who I didnt spend sunday chatting to on the internet, oh no) kicked us out!

We got home to find there was still alcohol and Olga wanted to help us drink it! After more music television and a singalong to Under the Sea, I eventually fell asleep on the couch at about 6am (though did later move upstairs and joing em and jax in bed).

I love those girls!

Sunday was spent in bed :p Well, and watching Breakfast in Tiffany's. Awesome. Trash.

Time:07:10 pm
Tickets for Type O Negative this summer are £18...
or £25.70 with "service charge", "order processing fee" and "postage"!
Thats nearly £8 of fees. I dont care if its being delivered by angel, thats just supid. Either they're ripping people off or they are investing very very poorely in ticketing/delivery systems. Luckily I can just take a walk at lunch tomorrow, pick them up by hand and pay zero fees. So there!

Subject:i want my eyes back!
Time:11:02 pm
I appear to have been near sighted for a good 3 days now. This is odd, and slightly worrying. I guess I've always taken my near-perfect vision for granted. The current plan is to eat as little as possible, go happy on the insulin and hope it goes back to normal. My diabetic boss claims he has this all the time! I guess that's sort of comforting. Then again, there was an office group email from this other (really nice, quirky and possibly gay) guy saying that, "following my toe amputation; the latest in a series of diabetic complications including 3 months of temporary blindness" (!!!!!!!!!!) he was leaving permanently due to ailing health.

In other news, has anyone seen http://www.brandpower.com
Could they not have just called it www.shamelesspatronisingadvertstoappealtocompleteidiotsofwhichtherearesadlytoomanyinthewrldpsfancyakitkatitsonly107caloriesdonttalkaboutthebabies.com

Are people really that stupid?

took neurofen, ate ice cream, watched "20 Centimeters" followed by "Image Me and You" (again!). All good. Then I realised that I felt absolutely shivering all over freezing and had blood sugar of about 20! Please dont let me get the flue :(

Subject:Pain and empathy
Time:05:21 pm
When visiting my dad, sympathetic though I was, I tended to think that he always moans and complains too much. Sure, don't go all stoic and surpress the responses to pain, but the woah is my lot in life isnt helping anyone.

Now, my back has been in complete fucking agony (ok, admittedly relatively mild but constant aching) since midday and fuck have I changed my opnion. Ok, its not neccessary to complain but if I was like that for weeks on end Id go mad!

If only there was aspirin in this house!
